1/31/12 Super Bowl Newsletter

WE HAVE EVERYTHING for you and to be sure I am talking now with both Santos and Ravi. Ean and I have already gone over some ideas and I will include those here as well as those of both Ravi and Santos. Where will you all be? In front of your t.v. or in front of a friends? Many people will be. I am one of that one percent of the one percent that do not watch the Super Bowl and may doing something else fun with my family depending on the weather and how we feel? We may turn into the half-time show as my son wants to watch Madonna sing. Will she sing her famous songs : " Like A Viognier ", followed almost immediately by the song : " Like A Vermentino ". I had no idea that Madonna was such a white wine fan. Maybe she will release as a follow-up : " Like A Verdicchio "? So many possibilities, so little time.
 
ANYWAY : We will have plenty of " Specials " for you this weekend as you watch the Super Bowl. I guess there will be lots of everything enjoyed : lots of beer and wine and certainly plenty of liquor, too. What do you all like? Anything that we should be looking out for you? Please let us know as we still have plenty of time to order it for you if there is something " special " to you that is available and that we do not yet have? Sometimes it's simply a question of space for us ; sometimes it's a question that we do not know about it yet or that perhaps the supplier is currently out of? PRUM 2007 Riesling Kabinett Wehlen/Mosel ( $40.99, VDP Qualitatswein mit Pradikat, 9% alcohol by volume ) should be drinking like a dream now and with some of that great Tailgate food that creative home chefs concoct this could be a real treat. This is some of Germany's very best and would be great to take with you to a Super Bowl party. It should be really showing a whole lot of the spectrum of it's flavors, too. A real, special treat!

       WHITE Dry White 375ml Treats / Splurge...
 
     1) Erbaluce di Calusa indigenous dry white grape variety from ORSOLANI , this half-bottle of " La Rustia " at $11.99 is wonderful and means that someone can drink this and really enjoy this outstanding, unique and dry Italian white from the Piedmont region while watching the Super Bowl.
     2) Classico 2008 Verdicchio De Castello di Jesi dry Italian white from BUCCI ( On Special for $13.99 a bottle ) is simply stated one of the great Italian white wines and this bottle is drinking beautifully now and should not be missed. ONE of the ABSOLUTE GREATS!

     WEEK'S TASTINGS :
 
       Friday, February 3rd, 2012 ( 5-8PM ) : We have Regis of Roanoke Imports here to taste through the PETER FRANUS California wines from the Palena dinner. It will be a re-cap and both Ean and I were really blown away by them: a  white Sauvignon Blanc 2010 Napa Valley white and several reds including two Zins, a Cabernet Sauvignon and a dry red Bordeaux blend. Impressive the whole lot!
 
       Saturday, February 4th, 2012 ( 2-6PM ) : WE have Enrico of Derosa Imports here to taste a cross-section of his Italian wines that his father-son company specialize in. They find some great deals, really they do. We are very pleased to be able to offer them to you. Some from Friuli and Alto Adige this go-round.
