Wines/Beers/liquors for bright,sunny,chilly weather

IT SURE WAS CHILLY THIS MORNING BEFORE WORK as I stepped outside to see the Morning Glories that are creeping up our two vines outside. I only sawe one, and it was really beat down by the hard rain last night! It was, sorry to say, rather pathetic and not glorious, oh well, tomorrow we will rally once again!
WHAT a tumultuous time we are in, watched all two hours of the debate last night and must say I have never been this concerned. What can we do?!? All of us should register and vote, that is what we can do, and wait and hope for the best, whatever we vbelieve, and we do seem to be deeply divided on that. Enough of politics, I have said my peace and it is time to keep moving forward, working, doing wahta we can for family, community and our country. Cheers!
So I had a great drive to work and loved having my roof top down on my old Volvo S70 : felt pretty special.

HERE ARE My Tasting Notes so far :
TABLE Number One W/ Special Guest & Owner Manuel Rojas and Sandra his wife, along with Angela Milas pouring : From Chile's Aconcagua Valley :
     1) Chardonnay 2013 from DOS PASOS, On Special for $8.99, with 13.5% alcohol by volume, Central Valley, a non-oaked, fruit-forward, smooth, bright, refreshing Chardonnay : lovely!
     2) Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Aconcagua Valley 2013 vintage, from Chile's Aconcagua Valley : A stainless steel Cabernet Sauvignon, that is really quite rich, pithy, perky, tasty and so flavorful, it blew owner Carlos of Coppi's Organic restaurant and me away when we tried it at his restaurant a couple of months ago. Classic, made to complement a meal, a ridiculous wine-VALUE to enjoy with many a food, love it! With 13.5% alcohol by volume, chill 30 minutes, enjoy thoroughly inside or outside.
     3) Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Private Collection Aconcagua Valley ALMA De Chile, On Special for $9.99 , with 13% alcohol by volume, this showed magnificently the other night at the Smithsonian Zoo at the Grapes With The Apes fundraiser, everyone loved it on Thursday, September 1st, 2016 when Manuel, Sandra and I poured it in the V.I.P. tent there : great event!
     4) Syrah Private Reserve 2011 from the ALMA De Chile, Private Reserve , On Special for $9.99 a bottle, again this showed like liquid red-gold at the National Zoo Grapes With The Apes fundraiser. It is soooo smooth, silky, bright, balanced, lively and lilting, lulling, like swaying with a gentle breeze in a hammock! With 14% alcohol by volume, this is another great winner to enjoy now : chill 30 minutes.
     5) Carmenere Private Reserve 2011 ALMA De Chile dry red from Chile's Aconcagua Valley has turned the corner and has softened quite nicely as it tasted more open, more rounded, fleshier and smoother than in the past when we poured it at the Zoo's Grapes With The Apes fundraiser on Sept. 1st, I liked it even more now, it has really become friendlier and brighter : si, claro que si! On Special for $9.99 a bottle, with 14% alcohol, showing nicely !
     6) Reserve Chardonnay 2011 IN SITU  Valle De Aconcagua estate-bottled, On Special for $12.99 a bottle, with 14% alcohol by volume, it tastes like a lovely white French burgundy from the Challonaise region : developed, flavorful, substantial, remarkabel really for only $12.99 On Special : this is serious dry white, layered and tasty white!Estate-bottled, with 14% alcohol by volume, highly recommended. Enjoy.
     7) Reserve 2012 Cabernet Saivignon IN SITU , On Special for $12,99 a bottle, just tried some last night : loved it, classic, traditional, unmanipulated fruit-forward Cabernet that is lovely by itself, smooth, bright, fresh, and will also complement many a meal!
     8) Reserve 2012 Syrah IN SITU, On Special for $12.99 a bottle, this is brawnier, more angular, heaftier, more rough and tumble, best with a meal, more modern in style, a treat with anything off a grill, marinated or well-seasoned, will clear your palate leaving you wanting both another bite of your food and another sip of your Syrah. Chill 30 minutes before serving.
     9) Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 from IN SITU and Chile's Valle de Aconcagua, estate-bottled, On Special for $16.99 a bottle, with 14% alcohol by volume, this is a real gem, a real treat, sooooo smooth, so bright, polished and refined , love it. Many of you do, it is such a great success here already. Come discover it if you do not know it already!
    10) Carmenere 2010 Gran Reserva from IN SITU, estate-bottled, On Special for $16.99 a bottle, with 14% alcohol by volume, from Chile's Aconcagua Valley, this is a bit beefier, heartier, more bold and in-your-face than the Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a big success here, too : great with a meal, being featured at Coppi's Organic restaurant on Thursday night Sept. 15th, 2016 6:30PM, $80 a person, all-inclusive : CALL : 202-966-0774 and reserve a seay asap!
TABLE Number TWO : Jody Jackman & Stephen Watkins :
     1) 2015 Sauvignon Gris from COUSINO-MACUL in Chile's Maipo Valley, $16.49 a bottle, rich and fruit-forward, bright and so fresh and smooth as you sip it. We all liked it that tried it here this weekend : Narge, Robert, Chris, Lynne, me, Abigail, Katarina - yes, it is lovely, a real treasure, a real treat, with or without food, come taste and discover it, you will be lulled, cajoled, rocked and pleased!
     2) Syrah of COUSINO-MACUL, from the Central Valley, $11.99 a bottle, a softerm brighter, younger, fleshier, fruit-forward pleasing dry red without any edge, nice sipping, very pleasing, great outside or indoors, with or without food, chill slightly 30 minutes and relax and enjoy, si si si snores, senoras!
     3) Merlot ( sustainably farmed ) 2013 ' Antiguas Reservas ' Merlot, $17.49 a bottle, from the D.). Valle del Maipo, this is a real beauty, so smooth and bright, elegant, with finesse, balance, we all loved it here from Marge to Robert, Chris and me when we tasted it here this past Saturday afternoon, a great ' new addition ;
' to the Antiguas Reservas fine line of wines : great now, chill slightly, will complement and not overpower, was great Saturday through Monday night, opened, evolved and pleased always.
     4) Finis Terrae 2011 dry red Cabernet and Merlot blend from COUSINO-MACUL is showing more fire and guts and earth and terroir and tobacco and leather and flovors that need a meal. We opened it here on Saturday afternoon and it has continued to evolve in the bottle beautifully, a fine food wine, it was soooooo tasty last night with our meal at home, and the cheeses before, too : a really fine balanced red to excite your tastebuds with food to flesh it out, $28.49 a bottle.
     5) Garum Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2014 from LEYDA Winery In Chile, small production : riddled with racy, wild and excitable Gooseberry Sauvignon Blanc flavors, what a spicy, zesty, zippy, flavorful dry white, $25.49 a bottle, both Lindsay and Marge really liked it a whole lot on Saturday afternoon here, a very distinct flavor profile that screams out to be heard, will not be forgot! Come taste and see what you all think, Katarina also liked it on Sunday night after it had been opne already a full day, did not lose anything.
     6) Lot 5 Chardonnay 2012 from the LEYDA Winery , from Chile's Leyda Valley,  $45.99 a bottle, really smooth and creamy and balanced and peaceful and fleshy and lulling and lingering and lush and rich : it has it all - so much satisfaction is wrapped up in these Chardonnay flavors Lot 5! A winner through and through! Luxuriate in these flavors, stretch out , limb and mind and enjoy! Celebrate fully.
     7) " Classic ' Pinot Noir from Chile's Leyda Valley, from LEYDA Winery, this jumped out at us, we all liked it on Saturday afternoon, more than the  Lot 21 2013 that we also tried ( thought about pouring both but decided not to this time, a medium-to-light-bodied Pinot Noir, what a toasty, roasted cherry-berry-earthy-pithy, slightly more angular taste that will completely flesh-out when combined with food, chill 30 minutes and enjoy!
     8) Cabernet Sauvignon D.O. Colchagua Valley Gran Reserva 2012 TERRANOBLE, $20.99 is a real treat : immediate lush and succulent, intoxicating aromas of toffee, chocolate, coffee and some accents of creamed spice and toast and flesh-of-grape flavors, so seductive, so pleasing : what is not to like - to love here?!?
     9) Carmenere 2012 Carmenere D.O. Colchagua Valley Grand Reserva TERRANOBLE  , $20.99, is even more decadent, redolent, perfuled, plastered and plussed and pleasured with that toffee-chocolate-coffee taste : insanely pleasurable, will rock and swing you in a magical hammock and carpet ride with gentle and pleasant breeses and enjoyment!
    10) Caremenere 2012 CA2 ' Costa ' Colchagua Valley from TERRANOBLE, dry red , $34.99 a bottle, 14% alcohol by valley , is a more refined, more polished, lore silky Carmenere dry red, less heft, less power, a bit slower to evolve and strut it's stuff, be patient, come back as it opens up more gradually, a treat in subtle nuances of flavor.
    11) Carmenere 2012 CA1 ' Andes ' Cochagua Valley TERRANOBLE , $34.99, the epitome of elegance and subtle nuances of deliciously seductive and tantalizing flavors that tug and gently pull and rub themselves up along the length of our tongues - a real treat that is great to sip and also to enjoy with a meal, lovely, come see which you all prefer? They have all lasted since being opne since Saturday afternoon , and I will see how it tastes now this Tuesday night? I bet it still has plenty to offer, will tell you all more tomorrow!
TABLE Number THREE : With Craig Mauro and his assistant pouring.
     1) Gewurztraminer 2014 from ALTA CIMA, $14.99 a bottle : enjoyed this last night with a goat's brie-cheese, and also a straight goat's cheese, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Good weight, flavor, polish and balance, liked it quite a bit. A milder, easier-to-sip and enjoy all by itself Gewurz, also nice with food, but very pleasing all by itself, cut through the heat, nice,
     2) Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 from ALTA CIMA, $14.99 a bottle : I still have to try this, will tonight when I get home and enjoy a glass with my wife after work. Sorry I cannot elaborate more, need to taste it again as it has been awhile since I last tasted. I like this winery, however, am pleased to offer these three wines.
     3) Syrah 2013 from ALTA CIMA, $14.99, Chris likes this one the best. I had to agree, it really shows well, tried it Thursday night with my dinner at home and really enjoyed how balanced and fleshy and flavorful it was, everything in place, it was very agreeable, just tasted good : good brightness and flesh, easy to sip, I liked it, Last night I had another glass with my neighbors Jim and Yvonne, and the three of us really liked it as more of the flavors developed and showed really clearly, with nothing suffering, may have to age for another year or three before all this comes out of the glass when you first open the bottle. But most of you will not wait, will not have the patience, will crack and pull the cork of the bottle sooner than later, a treat!
     4) Syrah 2010 from POLKURA, $22.99 a bottle. I tried this awhile back with Craig Mauro and enjoyed it then, and need to try it once again. Will have to wait until tomorrow night when I restaste it
Crai Mauro feels strongly that Chile's Syrah is a real special treat, undiscovered, unappreciated. We will put this to a taste as we try these six Syrah wines. Come taste and see what you think?!?
     5) Syrah 2010 from TRABUN Wine, from Chile's Cachapoal Valley, Requinoa, $29.99 with 14% alcohol by volume,  ... we just tasted it with the owner here himself last week, Sergio Avendano Rojas, Enologo / winemaker, ... a real silky vibrant treat that opens really slowly, gracefully, what a treat : tastes gret from the first sip, delicious, delectable into the third and forth and fifth sips, a winner - a wine with class, balance, breed and real spit and polish : come see what you all think!
SAVE BIG three ways on Wednesday night, UP to 20% OFF the marked sticker prices on these wines we will taste.
FREE TASTING here, join us also on Thursday night at Coppi's Organic Restaurant, $80 a person , all inclusive : CALL : 202-966-0770 and make your reservations!

We have been doing this for so many years now we can do it in our sleep almost. Try us, see what we recommend for you, maybe something new, something old, some of both?!?
FRANK JUST CAME BY to say ' Hi ', and to see what we have. He had not been in for awhile, he browsed and then I helped him pick three wines to enjoy now :

2) 2010 Quintessence dry red 2010 red Bordeaux, On Special for #11.99 a bottle, what a delight to enjoy with a meal, great value, too! .... AND : ...
3) Anne de Joyeuse <albec 2014 ' Original ' since 1868, French from southwest France's Limoux region ( not far from the town of Carcassonne ), $14.49 a bottle, an elegant, bright, polished, balanced Malbec to enjoy now with or without a meal, a real treat.

SO ONCE AGAIN I walked the aisles here to see what we need to shine some attention on. I pulled beers, liqueurs, ciders, and wines and have made a circle of them here on our tasting table ( the pictures I took should be on our Facebook account for you all to see, check it out when you get a chance ) ... and I will start to mention these now.

MY VIEW Of The Washington Post Weekly Wine Suggestions  follow below :
DANIELE Davidowitz our local rep from Dionysos Imports just came into the store to tell me that our Portuguese PROVAUN Portal Fidalgo, ( $16.49 a bottle ) Alvarinho ,  will be in tomorrow's Washington Post Wednesday Food section, and so I ordered more to have as sometimes the reviews really pull a lot of interest and requests from customers, some times not so much, sometimes not at all. We have to be prepared as we like to support any wine business that we can, and Dave McIntyre writes each week and we often get ' new faces ' coming through asking about the various wines he reviews.

SO OFTEN I DO NOT FIND OUT about the wines listed in the Post until I open and read the paper that we get delivered at home. That is a problem, a big problem.

SO OFTEN we have wines in the Post that we bought and have been selling but that were not given credit for having.
SO OFTEN we are listed for having wines ( that we may have had at one time but are out of when the article is published on Wednesday's ) , and we do not have them when customers come asking for them.
MORE THAN OFTEN we are not informed about wines going to be written about that we may sell, may have sold, might be interested in selling.
SO OFTEN I CALL and discuss this with the various wholesalers and ask them to call us when a wine is going to be reviewed, just to let us know, as we may want more, we may want to taste it and see what we think, as we may be low on a crtain category and want to ' beef up ' that section ? At least give us the chance.
SO OFTEN in the past I mixed up cases of wines for Dave McIntyre tp take home and taste and write about, enjoy with his wife and family and friends.
SO OFTEN in the past Dave would come and check in here and see what was ' new and exciting ' , chat, trade stories and impressions, share : I miss that. He still comes by once in awhile, we do appreciate that.
SO OFTEN I tell the distributors to tell their sales reps what wines are going to be written up so that they may pull samples and take them around to see what interest there may be in them?
ONE OF MY REPS that is ' on top ' of these  reviews told me that it takes him two weeks to get samples, even if they are going to be posted in the Washington Post newspaper. He said this in response to our last conversation about a California Sauvignon Blanc being reviewed. I knew it from past tastings going back five-ten years ago.
That has been the last time I tasted the wine. I told our local wine rep that, and that I wanted to taste it again before buying it. I said even if I could taste it the day of or the day-after the article was published in the Washington Post.
He did not seem inclined to get me a bottle saying his hands were tied, and so I told him I would not buy the wine without tasting it.
Our name, of course, did not get mentioned when the article appeared. What a lost opportunity to encourage and increase business, at least from my humble own point-of-view.

SO OFTEN I believe the system could generate more interest, business, actual sales and support for the wines being reviewed.

LAST WEEK Dave mentioned on his review of the GUNDLACH-BUNDSCHU Estate Vineyard 2014 Chardonnay : " And it's another eminder that we should not be so seduced by the new that we forget the tried and the true. Unfortunately, area retailers don't seem to agree. " My comment to the first sentence is that I totally agree that we should look at ' tried-and-true ' as well as the ' new '. I do that all the time, having some bottle-age on myself I wholeheartedly agree that we should not forget those wines that led the way for so many others. I do not agree with Dave's second sentence.
MY COMMENT ON THAT is, as well, concerning this 2014 Chardonnay GUNDLACH-BUNSCHU Estate Vineyard , I see that there is no store represented in Washington D.C. selling this wine? I also see that there is only one restaurant mentioned selling it : BOE Restaurant? How is this possible? Does anyone sell it, even the 2013? I have to believe that some of it is available in Washington D.C.? If not, then the wholesalers should have been proactive and told their reps to take it around, make some calls, send some emails, and get it placed in time for the article to appear this past Wednesday.
MY ASSESMENT is that the system is totally flawed. I was having a conversation with an old friend that used to sell to me and now sells to other stores and restauarnats. He was also an office manager at one point and this rep pointed the finger completely at Dave, blaming him for everything, saying that he did not give wholeslares enough lead time to get the information out, pull the samples, and make some ' new ' placements for the wines. I cannot believe that the whole problem should be blamed on Dave. That does not sound possible.
MANY WHOLESALERS have told me that they look at the month's purchases of who has bought the wines, and those names are submitted. It would be helpful if they would look at the last three month's purchases and inform the stores and restaurants that the wines would be in the paper soon? That way we could plan what to order, and if we had a previous vintage we could try the current one and include that before the articles' appear on Wednesday morning.
ANOTHER OBSERVATION to increase business and attention for a wine : have the wholesalers send an extra bottle to be tasted in the stores on the days that the wines appear in print. That also would be really helpful.
SO : IN SUMMARY : Even though I find the system really flawed I still think it works on some levels, and we do manage to work as a team to promote and educate and make available wines from other sources besides our own.
That is good, that is important, glad to do it, glad to be here when old and new customers come in search of a wine that they would like to taste.
That encourages a healthy wine business, and that is ultimately essential to any of us in the wine and spirits and beer, cider business.
I WRITE THIS TO HELP shine some light on this system as I hear from all the wholesalers when I reach out for comment from them, and I also hear from many customers, too. The comment from customers is that they often do not find the wines in the stores that are listed. We try not to have that be the case with us, and we probably succeed 80 percent of the time. Cheers. Thank you all for your patience, thank you very much.

Alicia Keys Blows Me Away This Morning, Wears No Makeip ...

IT'S COME LATE @ Night With The Almost Full Moon Over Three Days And The Coming To A Close Of The Fabulous Summer Olympics In Rion De Janeiro, Lovely Early Mornings Starting Then, How Many Of You Were Privy To This Phenomenon?!?

HOW MANY OF YOU Got a chance to enjoy the Summer Olympics In Rio De Janeiro, Brasil? We sell fine beer, fine Cachaca, and fine wines from Brazil here, all quite perfect for this heat that has softened some with temperatures last night dropping to 65 degrees I think? I was out in the yard enjoying it, sipping fine wine and taking it all in, wonderful experience, a treat that I enjoyed thorooughly and was so thankful for.

I JUST LEARNED this morning, too about the Indian custom called Raksha Bandhan, a celebration between brother and sister that just happened this weekend where a bracelet is exchanged between the two and gifts are exchanged. I like that, harmony and peace withing the family and between siblings is key. Symbolically now I extend a bracelet out to both my brothers, Eric and Larry and thank them for being them and for being a part of my life, enriching it as they both have. Thank you.
I WAS BLOWN AWAY THIS MORNING reading in the Washington Post newspaper's Style section that Alicia Keys does not wear makeup anymore. I really enjoyed the article, recommend you all read it if you have a chance. Basically I take from it that Alicia wants to know herself better as she really is and not as what others expect or want her to be. I like that : honesty, transparency, accepting all and not excluding or hiding anything. What a brave and gutsy concept, I applaud it wholeheartedly, recommend it wholeheartedly.
I BRING UP ALICIA KEYS and her not wearing makeup as it has a relevance where wine is concerned, too : let the grape shine forth that creates the wine, do not feel that you always have to embellish it and add so many additives to it, let it shine in both strength and weakness as it really is, as I feel it really should be : honest, transparent, standing on it's own ' natural grapeness ', nothing more, nothing less, except when combined with food as that also may add much. Cheers.
I AM NOW a ' big fan ' of Alicia Keys, not for her music that I do not know but for her stance on
' no makeup '. She is revealing to herself and also to the world who she really is : bravo Alicia, you have a new fan, and not for the music alone, but for appreciating that you are leading the way for many of us to shed our many guises and coverings that hide who we really are.
LET US LOOK at the wine and see what it truly is for better or for worse, for being a living thing like you and me, having ups and downs, good moments, bad ones, changes and evolutions, joyfulness, exuberance, sadness and hard times, beauty and ugliness, strength and weakness : uniqueness, too!
ALICIA, I WILL enjoy watching you on ' The Voice ' as I did two night's ago after the closing ceremonies of the summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro. How spectacular was that, and the young lady that sang so beautifully afterward, and that chose you as her coach, wow, I was blown away and smiling from ear to ear, inside and out! A great portent to many more exciting and great moments to come as we also celebrate the strengths and weaknesses, the honesty, purity of our voices themselves, judged just for that, not for their packaging : original, fine, wonderful thinking and approach all of this : I celebrate it all as we do here at Cleveland Park Wine and Spirits every day with you.
I AM INSPIRED this morning as I start my week here, a great feeling. Much to talk about today from Gluten-free Marzen Spanish beer, to four ' new ' half bottles of dry wine, to Pumpkin beers appearing now on the scene, to Hawaiian rum with Coconut, a miracle ' milagro ' of Tequila, to a ' new ' French orange liqueur, to some ' new ' local ale infused with peaches in one, blackberries in anothe ( both from Virginia ), , an ' traditional - classic ' style Argentinia Malbec : so much, so little time, so here goes ...

WINE From Chris and me, Tony :
           FOUR  Half Bottles :
     1)  2015 Sauvignon Blanc , Sonoma County, from MATANZAS CREEK Winery, California, $11.99. We tried with our local rep Jade and really liked it, and decided to add this size for convenience to you all, as many of you travel constantly and have expressed interest in this size 375ml bottle. Cheers. With 13.8% alcohol by volume, this is bright, fresh, livel, with a splash of cheers, too.
     2) Pinot Grigio 2015 from ITALO CESCON, $9.99 a bottle, from Veneto, Italy, also an award, a bronze metal from DECANTER magazine in 2015, that award means something. Refreshing, bright, tasty and smooth as can be.
     3) Chardonnay dry white 2014 from Piave, Italy, $9.99 a bottle, from ITALO CESCON, with 12% alcohol by volume, this wine really speaks to me, I like the extra flavor and taste and gravitas!
     4) Merlot 2013 from Piave, Italy dry red Italian, $9.99 a bottle, dusty-dry, a lighter-bodied, flavorful red that is best when chilled 30 minutes and served with any meal, indoors or outdoors,
NOTE : These ITALO CESCON make for great gifts, whether in a half bottle here at $9.99, with 12% alcohol by volume, or in a 750ml bottle, $14.99 ( the 750 has a Pinot Nero here but not a Merlot )... and the packaging is brilliant for gifts as there is always a small bit of the vine hanging from the neck of each bottle! Come see for yourselves.
          FOUR More 750ml Bottles :
TWO Pinot Noir 2014 From Chile :
     1) Pinot Noir 2014 ' Birdnest ' Casablanca Valley, Chile, $16.49 a bottle, with 13% alcohol by volume. This is new, tried it within the last six weeks, Pinot Noir that really tastes like Pinot Noir with a bouquet that draws you in and makes you want to sip.
     2) Pinot Noir 2014 from Chile's Maule Valley, the Reserva of PUNTI FERRER, $12.99,  with 13.5% alcohol by vlume, is spicier, fuller, warmer, less finesse, more power, great value, too for everyday drinking. Chill both for 30 minutes : they can always warm up to the proper temperature but they can never chill down to it on their own. Be refreshed, engaged, stimulated when you drink wine. Cheers.

           ONE ' Old-World-Style ' Malbec :
     1) Malbec 2011 from Mendoza, Argentina, " Our hand-picked grapes at vineyards adjacent to the Andes, create the best expression of Argentina. " I know, I was there, I walked in the vineyards with Valentin and his brother Edoardo back in 1995, On Special for $11.99 ( a crazy-low price ) for this mature, flavorful, earthy, rustic, barnyard of an expression of the Malbec grape that is best when served with food. Drink and enjoy it at the meal. It is fully-mature and shows great on the day it is open, within the first three hours, it does fade after several hours after being open : drink up! Enjoy, what value. Great with grilled meats, cheeses, pate, smoked meats. NOTE : I also walked the vineyards with Nora Favelukes if any of you know her? From the Billington Import days.
NOTE : I just got a LIKE on our Facebook page post where I took pictures of Omar that is ' new ' here as of a week+ now, as he worked on our spirits' shelves and winemaker Michael Hoefken liked it. Michael helps to make Leo HILLINGER Secco dry sparkling Austrian Pinot Noir rose. We sell the magnums at $37.99 a bottle. Cheers Michael, good to hear from you.

     1) Blanc De Noir, 2013 Spatburgunder Trocken of On Special for $9.99 a bottle, regularly $14.99, from KOSTER-WOLF Weingut, with 12.5% alcohol, an incredible Pinot Noir dry white where they remove the skins before the yeast eats them and the red color falls into the grape juice as it ferments. This is amazing, what a great summer refresher with body and character, from Germany's Rheinhessen, region, what a treat, really like the mouth-feel, the grip, the saturation on the tongue that bathes it so completely, wonderfully. I am a big fan of this dry white.
     2) 2012 Riesling Spatlese Hatenheimer Wisselbrunnen Trocken Rheingau, from SCHUMANN NAGLER, On Special for $19.99, regularly $24.99. I was so sorry to hear this, I knew her from my experience with her in 1999-2000 when I worked with Ruth, Mark, Joe, Avery, Tom, Steve, Charlie, Betty, Woody, and more : we were a good team. Here they are :
TABLE NUMBER ONE : With Eric Platt : Italian VALUES:
We have Five ( 5 ) Wine-Super VALUES :

          TWO Dry Whites :

     1) ' Le Battistelle ' Soave Classico from MONTESEI, 2012, with 12% alcohol by volume, I was enjoying it last night with my wife, the bottle was a day-old and it was still beautiful, bright, balanced and a delight, On Special for $9.99, regularly $15.99, what a treat, I have bought some for us, what a treat, get some while you can, tomorrow if you buy 12 assorted bottles by the case this one is 20% OFF and that makes it $8.00 a bottle, hard to beat if not impossible. You be the judge tomorrow.
     2) ' Gli Orti ' fromFRECCIAROSSA ( Societa Agricola, Casteggio, Italy, Oltrepo Pavese ), a wonderfully dry Riesling 2011, with 13% alcohol by volume, On Special now for the ridiculous price of only $12.99, originally $21.99 a bottle! Back in the twenties when Alfred Hitchcock was alive her drank this and their other white blend, their Barbera reds as well as their extraordinary Pinot Nero 2008 ' Giorgio Odero ' 14% alcohol by volume, at $47.99, ( we still have two bottles of that, will not taste it but it gets down to $38.39 by the bottle, and in 2012 it got the highest award that Italy gives to it's wines :  ' trebicchieri .' You will be amazed, amazing wines, really amazing!

          Four Dry Reds :

     1) Guado al Melo's :   2011 BOM BA BA BA BA cantino a ballino il arciballandolo ebrifestosi .... from BACCO IN TOSCANA, a delicious ripe, opulent, redolent, unctuous joyous, rapturous party and taste with flavors that are toasty and bright, bursting with fairie plums and dashing prunes all soaked and saturated, lush and so easy to sip all by themselves. How do they do this?!? On Special this 2011 for $9.99 a bottle, regularly $15.99 a bottle, this is when you want to sit back and have your taste buds perfectly entertained, everything done for them, just pleasure at it's purest and least demanding!

Come taste it here tomorrow.
     3) Langhe Dolcetto ' Bricco Del Cucu '2009, On Special for $11.99, regularly $21.99, with 12% alcohol by volume. This sttarts of in a classic, more spicy, earthy, toasty berry style that , with time open in the bottle morphs into a thicker, denser, deeper taste profile that approaches, for my taste anyway , a more modern style. I feel this will appeal to many of you that like a bolder, denser, deeper, more ' contact ' style wine like this. It will be interesting to see what you all say?
     4) ' Levante ' Toscana dry red 2009 Sangiovese On Special for $16.99 a bottle, regularly $25.99 a bottle, with 14% alcohol, this will also appeal to many looking for the more modern-style dry medium-bodied red with strong, intense, thick and more forceful flavors that are excellent with more flavorful meals, older cheeses, some red meats, many meats across the board, a fine food red at a really ridiculous price once again.

It is a more refreshing fruit-forward symphony of flavors, tastes, tweeks and accent, mmmmmm mmmmmm good!
     5) ' Granaxa ' 2011 dry red blend of Granaxa or Grenache, with the rest Syrah. Aged in old barrels and the brim, all the bright, all the bristle, thistle, thatch, tar, leather, spice and herb shout out in seemless orchestrations as if perfectly-timed, only changing as you enjoy your meal and those solid flavors of food change the tastes of the moment, as they all adjust to one another, to you, too : lovely, a fine southwest French wine from Minervois : bravo!
     6) ' Orience ' 2011is the ' luxury ' cuvee, a blend of mountain Syrah with a ' dollop ' of Grenache and old-vine , hand-harvested, neither fined or filtered, this is the pure, grand murkiness, the settling, the essence, the grace and the thunder, roar of these southwest French mountains in Minervois that are heard by us, and tasted and felt by us through the Syrah, Grenache and Carignan grapes : ahhh, what a choral performance, what a stellare shining of our stars on earth, this is sublime, and a great food wine, best with a meal.      6) Moscato 2015 ' Enotria ' from FATTORIA Enotria, Mendocino, northern California, $13.49. 8% alcohol by volume, is a lighter, brighter, less sweet, less cloying version of Moscato. It is another delight, balanced, tasty, a real treat! Cheers!
